Why Buy a Chevrolet Corvette Z06?
The exotic car pool is crowded with a wide selection of supercars, and continues to grow as new high-performance automakers add to the list. Yet, with all the fuss surrounding these hyper expensive models, it’s easy to forget that there is an equally enticing, and yet less expensive option from which to choose from — and it’s right here in the United States: the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for sale.
The American supercar checks all the right boxes in terms of style, luxury, high-tech features, track driving- and appearance- enhancing packages, and jaw-dropping, oh-my-gosh performance that one might expect in an exotic. And yet, rather than paying north of $200,000, the Z06 offers great value for all of the above-mentioned elements and then some. In fact, Forbes says “At less than half that price the 2015 Corvette Z06 offers a performance pedigree unmatched in the modern automotive world.”
That, of course, is due in part to the power of a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that unleashes a fantastic growl, and is capable of producing 650 horsepower and pound-feet of torque. It can also reach the 60-mile marker (from zero) in as little as 2.95 seconds, and its 10.95 quarter mile record at 127 miles per hour should raise an eyebrow. According to Forbes, those figures are amazing for a rear-drive sports car with an under $100K sticker. That being said, the Corvette’s beastly engine can’t take all the credit, since you can only attain those numbers when selecting the super fast-shifting eight-speed automatic.
Chevy’s Performance Data Recorder is a pretty sweet deal too. If you’re serious about your time on the racetrack, this feature will document your performance in real time, play it back, and analyze the experience for you on many levels (lap time, speed, g-force, etc.). It also captures audio, and you can review all of the recorded data via your in-vehicle touchscreen display, or save it on a memory card.
The Corvette Z06 has already garnered KBB’s 2015 Best Buy and 2014 Best Resale Value awards, and was voted Sexiest Vehicle at the NAIAS. At the moment, the 2015 model is up against rivals such as the Dodge Viper ACR, Porsche Cayman GT4, Mercedes-AMG GT S, Ferrari 488 GTB, and more — all in an attempt to be named Road and Track’s 2016 Performance Car of the Year.
