10 Best Supercars Available In 2017
If you’re in the market for a supercar, chances are that you’ve got a lot of cash to play with. That said, you certainly still don’t want to splash out hundreds of thousands of dollars or more on chaff. You want that fine automotive wheat. In this list, I’ve assembled the best cars that are available now or will be shortly. If you want something worth your money, look no further.
1. Bugatti Chiron
A name that needs no introduction, Bugatti’s new Chiron has continued the legacy established by its father, the Veyron: fast, exclusive, gorgeous. The car’s top speed of 261mph bests the so-far unbeaten Veyron, and its theoretical unlimited top speed of 288mph would make it the fastest production car in history.
2. Aston Martin DB11
The follow-up to the darling of the 00s, the DB9, the DB11 shows Aston hasn’t suffered under its new partnership with Daimler. Packing a 5.2L V12, the new Aston continues the great tradition of the grand tourer, mating speed and comfort. At normal speeds it’s a quiet, sophisticated cruiser, but if it’s speed you want, rest assured this car won’t let you down, with a top speed of 200mph.
3. Ferrari 812 Superfast
From one superlative grand tourer to another, the 812 Superfast has improved wonderfully on the already stunning F12berlinetta. A sub 3 second 0-60 and a top speed of 211mph is what drives this subtle marvel of engineering, which is meticulously designed to aid aerodynamics. Inside, there’s plenty of space and a good level of comfort for driver and passenger. It is in short, a triumph.
4. Acura NSX
A bargain in comparison to the Ferrari 812, the Acura NSX is an exceptional car, whose marque belies its American origins. Built in Ohio, its comparatively small 3.5L V6 performs incredibly well thanks to a lightweight build and three electric motors, giving the NSX the same 2.9s 0.60 of the 812, and a top speed of 191mph. Technologically advanced, speedy, and beautiful, it deserves more attention.
5. Lamborghini Centenario
Commemorating what would have been Ferrucio Lamborghini’s 100th birthday, the Centenario is proof that the firm’s come a long way from when they were making tractors. With a body made almost totally of carbon fibre and 770hp, you can guess what this thing is going to perform like. How does 217mph sound? As you can expect, it’s definitely not cheap, even in the realm of the supercar: it’ll cost you a cool $2 million. If, by some chance, you’re expecting a delivery, I want you to know how jealous the rest of the world is.
6. Ford GT
The GT of the 00s split public opinion somewhat: some loved it, some hated it, but the new one seems to be healing that schism. A true heir to the GT40, the car’s butterfly doors hold the portal to an incredible driving experience. Hop in, make the V6 scream, and you’ll be up at 216mph in no time. A real racer, this is the fastest car Ford have ever produced, and it’s an amazing comeback for a marque that’s all too often overlooked.
7. Pagani Huayra
Another firm that’s often overlooked, Pagani is barely known outside the world of the car enthusiast. The Huayra needs more attention. Why? Because it’s ridiculous. The new BC model comes in at a cool $2.5 million, and for that you get close to 800bhp, improved aerodynamics, and a superb attention to detail. All this adds up to one of the best pure driving experiences you can get. It’s fast, it’s furious, and it’s quite, quite mad.
8. Porsche 911 GT3
It almost feels a cop out to include this year after year, but the 911 GT3 deserves it. There’s a manual gearbox this time, but Porsche’s precise PDK automatic transmission is still buttery smooth. While it doesn’t pack as much horsepower as other models on this list, speed is still impeccable, with 0-100 being handled in under 8 seconds. The immortal 911 has been improved yet again, and once again proves itself a threat to other brands.
9. Hennessey Venom F5
While it might not be out yet, the Hennessey Venom F5 looks set to be a belter. Like an F5 tornado, it should pack an incredible punch – it aims to best the Chiron, with a hoped-for top speed of 290mph. Don’t expect creature comforts – you won’t get any, but do expect jaw-dropping performance. We’re talking 0-186mph in just over 13 seconds. This modified Lotus Exige promises much, and delivers.
10. Koenigsegg Regera
The Regera is just plain wonderful. Powered by a combination of a turbocharged 5L V8 and three electric motors, this hybrid has a claimed acceleration to 249mph in just 20 seconds. Not surprising considering the car’s 1500 horsepower. Technologically sophisticated, both electric and petrol engines are controlled by a single gear, the car’s speed will leave those who drive it dumbfounded. Expect to get through a lot of tires if you take it to its limit.
